Third in a row
Viking Sky is the third ship in the new ocean fleet of Viking Cruises, the world’s largest river cruise line. The ship is a sister to award winning Viking Sea and Viking Star, delivered in 2016 and 2015, respectively. Like her sisters, the ship was designed by SMC Design of London, while Rottet Studio in Los Angeles was engaged to design her interior. Featuring modern Scandinavian design, the 14-deck ship has five stateroom categories, all with private verandas, and 14 Explorer Suites, featuring accommodations for 930 passengers. With a gross tonnage of 47,800, a third the size of the latest megaships from other Cruise Lines, the Viking Sky can directly access most ports, providing an easy and efficient embarkation and debarkation process. The vessel is designed to mix understated elegance and the highest level of comfort onboard with a focus on intriguing and often little-known destinations for a exclusive and enriching cruising experience.
Green HVAC equipment
Viking Cruises has a strong focus on sustainability and environmentally-friendly technologies to reduce emissions, underlining its vision of playing a lead role when it comes to green cruising and sustainable tourism. The ship features energy-efficient solutions such as hybrid engines, hydro-dynamically optimized streamlined hull and bows for maximum fuel efficiency, as well as onboard solar panels to minimize pollution. Novenco was involved from the early phases of design and selected to supply the complete HVAC system for the accommodation and technical spaces onboard. Using energy recovery solutions, energy-efficient equipment in the HVAC systems and state-of-the-art control and supervision system for energy saving, Novenco contributes to the ‘greenness’ of the ship.
